Leslie A. Goodman
Leslie Goodman is a veteran communications and public affairs consultant who has held high-level posts with a Fortune 500 company, two US Presidents, a California Governor, and numerous issue campaigns. She began her career in broadcast journalism in New York City after earning a BA degree in communications from Stanford University.
Most recently, Leslie served as Senior Vice President, Corporate Citizenship and Philanthropy for the Walt Disney Company, leading policy and strategy development for the global entertainment enterprise. Her responsibilities included community outreach, ethical sourcing, environment and conservation, volunteer engagement and strategic philanthropy - including The Walt Disney Foundation and Disney's Worldwide Conservation Fund.
Leslie joined the Walt Disney Company in 2001, where she spent nearly 10 years leading the communications and public affairs strategy for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts worldwide. The business segment included: five of the world's leading family vacation destinations spanning three continents; the top-rated Disney Cruise Line; Disney Vacation Club; Adventures by Disney; and Walt Disney Imagineering, which creates and designs all parks, resorts and attractions.
Prior to joining Disney, Leslie was the founder and president of Strategic Communications Services, Inc., (1998-2001) a Sacramento-based consulting practice that offered public relations and crisis management counsel to corporations, public officials and issue advocates.
Leslie’s communications experience is also drawn from nearly two decades of political and policy work in Washington, D.C. and Sacramento, California. She served as: a press advance representative for President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan; Associate Commissioner of the Social Security Administration; head of Public Liaison for the United States Information Agency; Press Secretary for the Republican National Committee and Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications to Governor Pete Wilson. She also held senior communications posts in the presidential campaigns of 1988 and 1992.
Leslie received her BA degree in 1981 from Stanford University and attended Harvard University as a visiting undergraduate. In 1997 she returned to Harvard as a fellow in political communications at the Kennedy School of Government.
Leslie serves on the Board of First Book, a non-profit social enterprise that provides new books, learning materials, and other essentials to kids in need. Leslie is a native New Yorker and currently lives in Los Angeles with her daughter, Kaitlyn, who is a 7th grader at Park Century.
